Water temple

Water temple

The Pulgas Water Temple, in Woodside, California, is the kind of thing they built in the 1930s when public works like aqueducts and reservoirs were the subject of civic pride rather than furtive embarrassment.

Taken with a Minolta XG-M and the 50mm f1.7 lens on Ektachrome 400, scanned on a Polaroid SprintScan 35+, then cropped, cleaned up, and aggressively color corrected (corrections for the temple messed up the sky, and vice versa, so I started learning about masking) in Photoshop CS4.
