Road grime on the nose of a GE Genesis P42DC locomotive pulling the Amtrak Capital Corridor train, sitting at the platform of Diridon station in San Jose. Notwithstanding the pleasant surprise that the engineer who stepped out of this particular engine was a friend of mine (and might have a different opinion), the P42 has got to be the ugliest locomotive in regular use today (even when clean).
Shot with the Nikon D70s and the 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 zoom at 70mm, ISO 400, f/9, shutter 1/800 sec. Exposure, white balance, saturation and highlights adjustments in Aperture.
