Manzanar, Owens Valley, California, April, 1998.
Manzanar is a haunting place, or it least it was late in the afternoon on a cold spring day in 1998. It has since been built up a bit as a National Historic Site, complete with ”interpretive center”, but none of that was in place 12 years ago and the place was utterly deserted.
Taken with a Minolta XG-M and the 50mm f1.7 lens on Ektachrome 100, scanned on a Polaroid SprintScan 35+, with severe exposure correction in the Polaroid scanning software, then cleanup, further exposure corrections, cropping, and duo-tone adjustment in Photoshop 7.
