Vasona headwater

Looking down from San Carlos Avenue on the start of the Vasona industrial lead, branching off from the mainline just south of San Jose Diridon station. This track heads south on its tortuous path 16 miles through suburbs and hills to wind up at the Permanente cement quarry in Cupertino, perhaps 5 miles away to the northwest as the crow flies. Railroads are much more sensitive to grades and the lay of the land than you and I typically are.

Shot with the Nikon D70s and the 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 zoom at 70mm, ISO 400, f/11, shutter 1/400 sec. White balance, exposure, contrast, saturation, levels, and highlights adjustments in Aperture.
