The remains of Newhall Yard, which used to be one of the SP’s main freight classification yards, serving San Jose. It still has a few tracks in active use, but most of it has been taken up and now slated for redevelopment (no doubt after a prolonged, expensive, and bureaucratically arduous toxic waste mitigation project, as these things inevitably seem to entail). The view is southward, looking towards downtown San Jose, from just shy of the platform of the Santa Clara depot.
Shot with the Nikon D70s and the 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 zoom at 70mm, ISO 400, f/10, shutter 1/800 sec. Exposure, contrast, saturation, vibrancy, levels, and highlights adjustments in Aperture.
