The clubhouse of the Bay Meadows racetrack, San Mateo, glimpsed from the train tracks through some maintenance of way equipment. Bay Meadows has since been demolished; a horse track is just too low value a use for such a large piece of urban real estate. I visited there a couple of times for various corporate functions in the years before it was plowed under, and found it to be a sad and seedy place. As an institution I won’t miss it, though some of the older parts of the complex contained some wonderful art deco structures that it’s a shame weren’t preserved as part of whatever redevelopment is being done to the property.
Shot with the Nikon D70s and the 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5 zoom at 70mm, ISO 400, f/11, shutter 1/320 sec. Exposure, contrast, saturation, and highlights adjustments in Aperture.
